Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Weeb Pakistan publishes information that can affect people’s money and access to public support. We hold ourselves to a high standard of accuracy. This policy explains how we report, write, illustrate, update and correct our content. The editor of Weeb Pakistan is responsible for applying it.

1. Independence

We are independent of every government body, political party and program we write about. Advertisers, sponsors and partners have no say in what we cover or how. Our ownership and income are disclosed on our Ownership and Funding page.

2. Sourcing

  • We base reporting on primary official sources wherever they exist: websites ending in .gov.pk, official notifications, gazettes, press releases, and verified official social media accounts of ministries, departments and programs.
  • We link to the original official source in the article so readers can check it.
  • We name secondary sources (other news outlets) when we rely on them and link to them.
  • Full rules are in our Fact-Checking and Sources Policy.

3. Verification before publishing

We check payment amounts, dates, deadlines, eligibility rules, fees, helpline numbers, SMS short codes and portal addresses against an official source before we publish. Articles on payments or eligibility are checked against that source before publication.

4. No speculation presented as news

  • We do not publish rumours, WhatsApp forwards or unconfirmed social media claims as news.
  • We do not invent or guess dates, amounts or “expected” announcements. If an official date has not been announced, we say so plainly.
  • If a development is reported but not yet officially confirmed, the headline and first paragraph say so, for example: “Reported, not yet confirmed by BISP”.
  • Analysis and opinion are labelled as Analysis or Opinion, separate from news.

5. Headlines, summaries and images: no clickbait

  • Headlines describe what the article actually says. We do not promise information the article does not contain.
  • We do not use exaggerated, shocking or fear-based wording (“Big news!”, “Payment stopped!”, “Last chance!”) unless an official source confirms it.
  • We do not hold back the key fact to force a click. The main answer appears near the top of the article.
  • Preview text and social images follow the same rules as the headline.

6. Image policy

  • Featured images are our own original photos or graphics, or images we have a licence to use. Featured images should be at least 1200 px wide, in landscape (16:9) format.
  • We do not use government logos, state emblems, program logos or designs that imitate official portals in featured images or thumbnails. They could make readers think we are an official source.
  • Screenshots of official portals appear only inside articles where they explain a step. They are labelled with their source, for example: “Screenshot: official BISP website, with the date of the screenshot in the caption.”
  • We do not use misleading, manipulated or AI-generated images that show events, documents or people as real.
  • We do not use text-heavy images or our site logo as the featured image.
  • Credits are given in the caption where required.

7. Bylines and accountability

Every article shows a byline with the name of a real writer, linked to their profile on our Our Team page. Short team updates may use “Weeb Pakistan News Desk”, which also links to a page naming the responsible editor.

8. Dates, updates and timestamps

  • Every article shows its published date.
  • When we change an article in a meaningful way, such as new official information, we show an updated date and briefly say what changed.
  • We do not change dates to make old content look new when nothing important has changed.
  • We review evergreen guides, such as how to check BISP eligibility, against official sources and update or clearly label outdated information.

9. Use of AI tools

A person checks articles before they are published. We do not publish articles as if a machine were the author. We do not use AI to create fake people, quotes or images presented as real. Where a tool has played a substantial role in producing a piece, we say so in the article.

10. Sponsored content and affiliate links

Any paid or sponsored content is clearly labelled “Sponsored” or “Advertisement” at the top. Paid links should carry rel=”sponsored”. We do not accept payment for coverage of government programs. We do not currently run an affiliate-link program. If that changes, this page will say so.

11. Fraud protection in our content

Articles about payments or registration should link only to official portals and helplines. We remind readers never to share their CNIC, PIN or OTP and never to pay anyone to get support.

12. Corrections

We correct mistakes quickly and openly. See our Corrections Policy.
